The Lagoon Villa is Finolhu’s smallest villa category, with the main appeal being its overwater setting and easy access to the sea. The 145 sq m villa sits directly above the water and opens onto a secluded wooden deck with sun loungers, while a private jetty leads into the ocean.
The Ocean Pool Villa is a good choice for couples who want an overwater stay with their own pool. Its 180 sq m layout includes a private freshwater pool, direct ocean access and a sunset-facing position, giving guests several ways to spend time outside without leaving the villa.
The Beach Pool Villa works well for travellers who want their own pool but prefer staying on the island rather than over the water. With 205 sq m of indoor and outdoor space, couples and smaller families have plenty of room around the villa and pool.
The Beach Villa keeps the focus on easy access to the sand. From the bedroom, the outlook runs through the garden towards the beach and sea, while direct beach access means guests can reach the shoreline without using an overwater jetty.
The Private Pool Villa is set at the back of the island and suits guests who want a more enclosed outdoor space. Its 205 sq m layout includes a private tropical garden with sun loungers and a freshwater pool, giving couples and smaller families a private place to spend time during the day.
The Two Bedroom Interconnecting Beach Villa is designed for families and groups who want to stay together while still having separate sleeping space. There are only three villas in this category, each offering 410 sqm with two king-size bedrooms.
This is the largest accommodation category listed by Finolhu, with 735 sqm and three bedrooms. It is the better choice for larger families or groups who need three bedrooms within one villa rather than splitting across separate accommodation.
The Two Bedroom Water Villa with Pool gives families and groups a large overwater base with 460 sqm of space. The layout includes two separate bedrooms with king-size beds, two bathrooms and a spacious living room, so guests have both shared areas and room to spread out.
The Two Bedroom Beach Villa with Pool is aimed at families and groups who want plenty of space with the beach directly outside. At 530 sq m, it includes two separate bedrooms, two bathrooms and a large living room, making it easier for several guests to share one villa comfortably.
Set at the end of the wooden walkway, the Two Bedroom Rockstar Villa gives families and groups a more private overwater position. Its 460 sq m layout includes two separate bedrooms, two bathrooms with bathtubs and outdoor showers, plus direct ocean access.
The BEACH BUBBLE TENT is a separate overnight experience on Finolhu’s sandbank rather than a replacement for a standard villa stay. It sits around 100 metres beyond Crab Shack and has a transparent sleeping area with a wooden floor and double bed.
Beach Kitchen is Finolhu’s main restaurant and serves breakfast, lunch and dinner beside the pool. Food is offered from buffet stations, with local and international choices and options for vegan and vegetarian guests, as well as fish and meat dishes.
Kanusan is Finolhu’s overwater Japanese restaurant, reached by a short wooden walkway. The menu combines classical and modern Japanese cooking, with a dedicated sushi area and aperitif bar adding to the evening experience.
Arabian Grill serves dinner with flavours drawn from North Africa and the Middle East. The cooking uses spices such as cardamom, cumin, nutmeg, cinnamon and turmeric, with mezze, fish, meat, vegetables and tagine-style dishes among the published choices.
Crab Shack sits out along Finolhu’s sandbank in a relaxed beach setting. Guests can reach it with an approximately 20-minute walk along the sand or a five-minute trip by traditional wooden boat.
Beach Club is one of Finolhu’s main daytime social spaces. Its upper deck looks towards the horizon, while an air-conditioned library upstairs gives guests somewhere quieter to sit during the day. Food and drinks are available, with an à la carte menu listed in the resort’s current meal-plan information.
Milk LAB is a casual daytime stop for drinks and lighter food. The selection includes milkshakes, protein drinks, espresso and juices, with pastries, sandwiches and freshly brewed coffee also listed in Finolhu’s current dining information.
Floating Breakfast is served in the guest’s own private villa pool on a floating tray. It gives guests the option of starting the day in their accommodation rather than heading to Beach Kitchen.
5° North is a dining platform set in the lagoon with a 360-degree outlook across the water. Finolhu uses the platform for special dining experiences, including Champagne Breakfast and evening dining.
Private Beach Dinner is arranged away from Finolhu’s main restaurants and is designed around a meal on the beach. The resort promotes the experience for romantic evenings, anniversaries and proposals.
Finolhu also offers in-villa dining for guests who would rather eat privately in their accommodation. It operates separately from the meals included within the resort’s standard meal plans and gives guests another option when they do not want to visit one of the restaurants.
Pizza Counter is Finolhu’s straightforward option for guests who want pizza rather than a full restaurant meal. The resort’s current meal-plan information lists pizza at Pizza Counter and Beach Club, making it a useful choice for a simple lunch or dinner.
Lagoon Lunch takes dining into Finolhu’s lagoon, where a barbecue is served with the water around guests’ feet. It gives travellers a very different lunch setting from the resort’s restaurants and makes direct use of the shallow lagoon.
Destination Dining gives guests the option of a private barbecue on the beach, with the menu selected around their preferences. Finolhu also offers different set-ups for the experience, including gazebo and sunken-seating arrangements.
In Villa Breakfast allows guests to have breakfast in their accommodation instead of visiting the main restaurant. It is a practical option for travellers who prefer a quieter start to the day or want to spend more time in their villa.
Beach Bar is the drinks-focused part of the Beach Club area and stays open later than the daytime club. Cocktails, music and DJs form part of the atmosphere, making it one of the main places for drinks after dinner.
Fehi Spa sits within the resort’s tropical gardens and has 10 treatment rooms. The menu covers massages, body treatments, facials and Natura Bissé skincare, alongside hair and nail services.
Selected Fehi Spa massages can also be arranged in the privacy of a guest’s villa. This gives couples and wellness-focused travellers the option of having a treatment without heading to the spa building.
Finolhu’s wellness programme includes several styles of yoga rather than one standard class. Choices include Aerial Yoga, Hatha Yoga, Ashtanga Yoga, Vinyasa Yoga and Dandi Yoga, with sessions lasting 60 minutes.
Finolhu has indoor and outdoor gym areas, giving guests the choice of exercising inside or training in the open air. Personal training is available, along with fitness sessions such as total body toning, PNF stretching, boxing and muscle conditioning, and Pilates.
The outdoor Yoga Pavilion is used for yoga, meditation and strength training. It gives guests a dedicated open-air space away from the main gym and works well for those who prefer slower exercise or mindfulness during their holiday.
THE OCEANEERS CLUB is Finolhu’s dedicated children’s club, with activities taking place both inside the club and around the island. Cooking, baking, creative sessions and guided activities on and below the water form part of the published programme.
TEENS HUT is designed for guests aged 12 to 17 and gives teenagers their own place to meet, play and take part in organised activities. The programme includes gaming, creative workshops, outdoor challenges, digital storytelling, photography and ocean-conservation projects.
Finolhu’s Oceanic Center is operated by Dive Butler International as a PADI 5* Dive Centre. Beginners can try scuba before progressing to certification, while qualified divers can join continuing courses and more advanced dives around Baa Atoll.
Finolhu’s house reef can be reached directly from the resort, so guests do not need a boat trip every time they want to snorkel. Equipment is provided free of charge and can be kept for the duration of the stay.
Finolhu runs seasonal snorkelling trips to Hanifaru Bay from May to November. The experience is available from age eight and gives guests the opportunity to see manta rays when seasonal and sea conditions are favourable.
Finolhu’s PADI MERMAID PROGRAM combines underwater swimming skills with mermaid techniques. Activities range from PADI Discover Mermaid and Basic Mermaid through to PADI Mermaid, Advanced Mermaid and a Mermaid Photo Session.
Finolhu’s Water Sports Center is on the main island and offers several ways to explore the lagoon without an engine. Guests can kayak, use stand-up paddleboards, windsurf or sail, with RS SAILING also listed in the resort’s current water-sports programme.
The Water Sports Center also runs faster-paced activities for guests who want more action on the water. Choices include Jet Ski rides and guided tours, E-WAVE JET SKI, Seabob, X Jet Blade, wakeboarding, kneeboarding, water skiing, Subwing, parasailing and E-Foiling.
Surf´s Up! gives intermediate and expert surfers the chance to head out from Finolhu for dedicated surf sessions. Current water-sports information also lists surf trips and lessons.
Guests can also book a speedboat with a captain for time away from the island. The experience gives couples, families or groups more flexibility to explore the waters around Finolhu without joining one of the standard scheduled excursions.
Finolhu’s excursion programme includes snorkelling trips, wildlife-focused outings, fishing, cruises, local-island visits and time on nearby sandbanks. Published choices include Reef Hopping, Dolphin Cruise, Turtle Safari, Turtle & Dolphin Safari, Romantic Evening Cruise, Local Island Adventure and Sandbank Picnic.
Finolhu’s resident Marine Biologist leads experiences focused on the reefs and marine environment of Baa Atoll. Guests can learn more about the ecosystem and take part in research and conservation activities during their stay.
Finolhu’s Coral Reef Propagation Project focuses on rebuilding areas of the house reef. Coral fragments are attached to specially designed frames and placed near the reef, creating a nursery that can be monitored as the coral grows.
Finolhu offers several fishing experiences using different techniques. Published options include traditional hand-line fishing, ‘Baraa’ trolling, sunset bottom fishing and Big Game Fishing.
Finolhu has a dedicated tennis court where guests can play independently or arrange coaching. This works for regular players as well as couples and families who simply want an active hour away from the beach.
Padel gives guests another racquet-sport option alongside tennis. Clinics, private lessons and customised coaching are available through the resort’s tennis professional.
GOLF STUDIO has an indoor golf simulator for guests who want to practise during their stay. It suits beginners as well as more experienced amateur golfers and provides an indoor activity away from the sun and water.
ART LAB is Finolhu’s dedicated creative space for children, teenagers and adults. Activities include canvas painting, pottery, fabric painting, resin art, candle making, soap making and other craft sessions.
Finolhu’s Main Pool is used for swimming and selected organised activities, including the weekly Breathe – Scuba Free Trial for first-time divers.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY is a celebration experience aimed at younger guests. Captain Fin and mermaid Lhu Lhu can form part of the occasion, with decorations, gifts, games, food, drinks and a birthday cake among the published elements.
Finolhu offers personalised wedding experiences for couples who want to hold their ceremony on the island. Current options include Ishgi “Romantic”, Dhaaimee “Everlasting”, Hithu Vindhu “Heartbeat” and Loabiverin “Lovers”.
Finolhu hosts private celebrations and business events, including conferences, cocktail parties and beach weddings. Different parts of the island can be used depending on the occasion, taking the event away from a standard hotel meeting-room setting.
First-time divers can try breathing underwater during Finolhu’s introductory session in the Main Pool. The activity is available to healthy participants aged eight and above and gives guests a simple way to try scuba before booking a full course.
Local Island Adventure takes guests away from Finolhu to experience a local Maldivian community. The visit focuses on everyday island life, local traditions and culture, adding a different perspective to a stay centred mainly around the resort.
Finolhu’s Citizen Science programme allows guests to contribute to marine research. Identifying features such as turtle scale patterns and the spot patterns of manta rays and whale sharks can be recorded and shared with conservation organisations through the resort’s marine-biology team.
Finolhu runs a weekly programme alongside its permanent leisure facilities. Sporting activities, movie nights, live performances and themed parties are among the published options.
Finolhu’s Multi Court is available for football, basketball and other sports. It gives families, teenagers and groups another active option away from the water and can be useful when several guests want to play together.
Finolhu is in Baa Atoll, 121 km from Velana International Airport. The standard journey is a 30-minute seaplane flight, operating during daylight and suitable weather. For later arrivals or when seaplane conditions do not allow the transfer, the resort can route guests via a domestic flight to Dharavandhoo Airport followed by a speedboat to Finolhu. The setting places guests within Baa Atoll’s UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, close to Finolhu’s house reef and long sandbank.
