Beach Villa is the simplest choice for couples or a small family who want to stay close to the beach. These 57 sqm villas are backed by tropical greenery, with the lagoon just steps away. A private sea-view terrace provides outdoor seating, while an open-air shower adds another practical outdoor feature.
Sunset Beach Villa is a good choice for couples who want to enjoy the evening view from their accommodation. These 57 sqm villas have a sunset-facing position, uninterrupted ocean views and a private outdoor terrace.
Beach Pool Villa suits couples or a small family who want their own pool while staying close to the shore. At 125 sqm, it gives you considerably more space than the two 57 sqm villa categories and sits along the shoreline just steps from the ocean.
Two-bedroom Family Beach Villa is designed for families who need more room while staying together in one beachfront villa. The 114 sqm layout accommodates four adults and two children, making it a more practical option than booking separate one-bedroom villas.
Two-bedroom Beach Pool Residence is Royal Island’s largest accommodation category and suits families or couples who want more private space. There are two residences, positioned on the furthermost east and west sides of the island for added peace and privacy.
Maakanaa is Royal Island’s main beachside restaurant and serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. The restaurant offers international buffet-style dining, starting with a continental buffet breakfast and continuing with dishes influenced by South Asian cooking. The resort also uses ingredients sourced from Maldivian islands and markets in Malé.
Raabondhi is the resort’s speciality seafood restaurant on the quieter southern side of the island, with tables looking towards the ocean. The menu includes freshly caught tuna, locally caught Maldivian lobster, other seafood and flame-grilled meats.
Royal Island offers several private dining experiences for couples, families, groups and special occasions. Options include a Candlelit Beach Dinner, Floating Breakfast, Dig-in Dinner, Lagoon Lunch and Private BBQ on the Beach. Guests can also arrange a sandbank picnic or sunset dinner, an overwater dining setup beside the lagoon, in-villa experiences and a chef’s tasting menu at a private table.
Pool Bar is the resort’s daytime swim-up bar, with submerged seating in the swimming pool. Guests can order beer, fresh juices, coconut water, cocktails, wines by the glass, spirits and liquors without having to leave the pool.
Boli Bar is Royal Island’s 24-hour bar, with cabana-style seating and an outdoor deck. During the day, guests can stop for freshly brewed coffee, pressed juices or a game of pool. The drinks selection also includes cocktails, wines, beers, spirits and liquors, with live music adding to the atmosphere later in the day.
Fun Pub is Royal Island’s late-evening venue, opening each night at 21:00. Guests can have cocktails, play billiards, use the karaoke bar or stay for music and dancing. Live bands and DJs are also part of the entertainment programme.
Araamu Spa sits within the island’s tropical gardens and offers classic body and facial treatments alongside Ayurvedic therapies and beauty care. Treatments can be tailored around individual needs, making the spa useful whether you want a single massage or more time focused on wellness during your stay.
The fitness centre gives guests somewhere to keep up their usual exercise routine between time at the beach and excursions. The official sports information highlights strength, balance and cardio training, with the centre available from early until late every day.
Starfish Kids Club gives younger children their own mix of creative activities, games and time outdoors. The programme includes coconut-leaf weaving, shell craft, paper origami, hand printing, collage making and face painting, alongside story time and indoor games.
Royal Island’s diveOceanus centre caters for beginners as well as experienced divers. Beginners can start with Discover Scuba Diving, while qualified guests can work towards Open Water, Advanced Open Water, Rescue Diver or Dive Master qualifications.
Hanifaru Bay is one of the main marine experiences available from Royal Island. Seasonal plankton blooms attract manta rays and whale sharks to this part of the Baa Atoll Biosphere Reserve, giving guests opportunities to see them while snorkelling when conditions and wildlife movements allow.
Reef Snorkeling is a two-hour guided trip into Baa Atoll’s coral areas. Guests can explore reef formations with opportunities to see reef fish, rays and occasional turtles depending on natural conditions.
Royal Island’s QAdventure water sports centre covers everything from relaxed paddling to faster motorised activities. Guests can try canoeing, stand-up paddleboarding and windsurfing, or choose options such as parasailing, Jet Skiing, wakeboarding and surfing.
Royal Island’s excursion programme covers snorkelling, sandbanks, sunset cruises, fishing, stargazing and visits to inhabited islands. Trips range from shorter one-hour outings to longer half-day experiences, giving guests plenty of choice without having to plan everything around a full day away from the resort.
Sandbank sunset cocktails is a one-hour experience that takes guests away from the main island for drinks as the sun goes down. The sandbank setting makes it particularly suited to couples who want a quieter evening experience away from the resort’s bars.
Royal Island has several sports facilities for guests who want to stay active away from the water. Options include futsal, badminton, floodlit tennis, table tennis, basketball and beach volleyball.
Royal Island has a main swimming pool and a separate kids pool, giving families another place to spend time away from the beach and lagoon.
Cinema Under the Stars at Royal Island Resort moves movie night onto the beach. A large screen is set up on the sand, with loungers and beanbags positioned along the shoreline and surround speakers placed around the viewing area.
Royal Island offers beach and sandbank wedding ceremonies through two named experiences: Sunset Bliss and Royal Romance. Both combine an island ceremony with spa preparation, local drums and dance, refreshments and professional photography.
Royal Island can arrange birthdays, anniversaries, vow renewals and reunions, giving guests the option to mark an occasion during their stay.
