British citizens travelling to Copenhagen on a full British citizen passport do not need a visa for a standard holiday in Denmark. As Denmark is part of the Schengen area, visa-free stays are limited to 90 days in any 180-day period across the whole Schengen area.
Passports must have been issued less than 10 years before the date of arrival and must remain valid for at least three months after the planned departure from the Schengen area.
British citizens can visit Copenhagen without a visa for holidays, family visits and other short tourist stays. Border officials may also ask for evidence of onward or return travel and sufficient funds for the stay.
Visa-free entry can cover business meetings, cultural or sporting events, short-term study and training. Employment follows separate Danish requirements and should not be treated as ordinary business travel.
