Ngorongoro Serena Safari Lodge
Today brings a true highlight as you venture into what's often called the world's most extraordinary natural wildlife theatre. Following an early breakfast, make your way to the crater's entrance and begin the descent through drifting morning mist, dropping roughly 2,000 feet onto the caldera floor. Ngorongoro stands as the planet's largest unbroken volcanic caldera, and its considerable size and varied terrain create distinct habitats: woodland, marshes, lakes, freshwater springs, open savannah, and even patches of sandy dunes, resulting in an exceptional and varied wildlife encounter. Enjoy a packed lunch beside a pond where hippos gather. In the late afternoon, make your way back up to the lodge, where dinner and a restful overnight stay await.
After breakfast, leave Ngorongoro Crater behind and travel southeast, passing by Lake Manyara and the village of Mto wa Mbu. The route winds through the highland region and Karatu district, showcasing scenic stretches of wheat farmland and coffee estates, before descending a dramatic escarpment onto the main road heading south toward Arusha. Along the way, you'll pass through the Maasai Steppe, dotted with charming rural villages and fields of maize, coffee, and bananas.
Upon reaching Arusha, enjoy lunch before being transferred to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your onward flight connection to Zanzibar.
On arriving in Zanzibar, you will be assisted by one of our representatives to your hotel. Zanzibar, the fabled Spice Island off Tanzania's coast, enchants visitors with its swaying palms, turquoise lagoons, and centuries-old Swahili culture, from Stone Town's winding alleys to fragrant clove and spice plantations. The island's northern shores, particularly Matemwe, are renowned for powder-white sands and a spectacular coral reef facing Mnemba Island.
Here, you will be staying at The Mora Zanzibar that is a wonderful 5-star beachfront sanctuary, blending Swahili-inspired architecture with contemporary elegance across its spacious suites, many featuring private terraces, pools, or jacuzzis. You can unwind beside multiple pools, indulge in spa treatments, or dive the nearby reef through scuba and snorkelling excursions. While staying here, you can also check out the in-house highlights that include authentic Swahili cooking experiences, water sports, tennis, and a kids' club for families, while dining ranges from vibrant teppanyaki evenings to generous buffet spreads with live cooking stations, a true celebration of island life.
