The Superior Junior Suite Garden View is a good choice for guests who prefer a quieter outlook over the resort’s tropical planting. At approximately 59 sqm, it combines contemporary interiors with tropical design touches and has a private balcony or terrace facing the gardens.
This junior suite keeps the same approximate 59 sqm layout as the garden category but changes the outlook towards the ocean. Its private balcony or terrace gives guests outdoor space to enjoy the coastal setting, with the extent of the ocean view depending on the suite’s position and floor.
With approximately 74 sqm of space, this category gives guests more room than the Junior Suites. The interiors have African-influenced design details, while a private balcony or terrace provides outdoor space. Garden and ocean-view options are available within the category.
An in-room whirlpool overlooking the ocean is the main feature of this approximately 74 sqm suite. Guests also have an ocean-facing setting and the larger proportions of the Superior Suite category.
Two separate bedrooms give families and groups their own sleeping areas while keeping everyone together in one suite. The 68 sqm layout also includes a private balcony or terrace, with ocean or garden-view options available.
A separate bedroom, living area and private swimming pool give this suite far more space for spending time in the room. At approximately 264 sqm, it opens onto a private terrace with a 6x3m pool and ocean views.
This approximately 401 sqm suite is the largest accommodation category at The Mora Zanzibar. It has two bedrooms, a separate living area and a large terrace overlooking the ocean, along with an 8x3m private swimming pool.
Jikan combines Asian fusion cooking with Teppanyaki and Japanese favourites. Sushi, sashimi and Asian fusion tapas feature alongside dishes prepared at the Teppanyaki tables, where chefs cook in front of guests.
Jua Grill centres its food around an open flame, with meats and vegetables grilled to order and served with salads and side dishes. Both buffet and à la carte options are offered, giving guests more flexibility than a fixed grill menu.
Muyuni Beach Club is the resort’s beachfront restaurant, with tables close to the sand and Indian Ocean. Its Mediterranean-inspired menu includes fresh seafood, pasta and pizza baked on a hot stone grill.
Horizon is the main all-day dining restaurant, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. Its international buffet includes live cooking stations, while à la carte dishes add more choice. Fish, meat, vegetarian and vegan options are available, and themed evenings introduce different cuisines during a longer stay.
The Gelato Shop serves coffee alongside a selection of gelato flavours. It is an easy stop between meals and gives families, couples and younger guests somewhere to pick up a coffee or something sweet without sitting down for a full restaurant meal.
Eclipse Pool Bar sits by the resort’s central pool area and has swim-up access, so guests can order drinks without leaving the water. There is also poolside seating with views across the pools towards the ocean.
Garden Pool Bar offers a quieter poolside setting among tall trees and tropical planting. It provides an alternative to the busier central pool area and keeps drinks close at hand for guests spending the day around the garden pool.
Mora Tempori covers drinks from early-morning smoothies to botanical cocktails using local flavours. The resort’s mixologists prepare drinks around guest preferences, with the service designed to be flexible rather than tied to one traditional bar setting.
Private dining can be arranged on the beach, on a private terrace or in a secluded part of the resort. Menus are tailored to guest preferences and combine international influences with local flavours, giving couples an alternative to dining in one of the main restaurants.
The Mora Zanzibar also offers chef’s table experiences as part of its enhanced dining options. These include behind-the-scenes access and specialised tastings, giving food-focused travellers an opportunity to spend more time with the resort’s culinary team than they would during a standard restaurant meal.
The resort’s wider wellness programme is designed for guests who want more than a single spa treatment. Personal wellbeing support, holistic workshops and bespoke detox programmes can be arranged, while the spa pool provides a separate place to slow down between activities.
The Pause Spa is the resort’s main treatment and relaxation space. It is open daily from 09:00–21:00 and offers massages, facials, manicures and other treatments alongside a sauna, steam room, hot tub/Jacuzzi, spa pool and relaxation areas.
The Pause Beach Cabana brings spa treatments closer to the shore. Signature massages are carried out in an open-air cabana beside the beach, allowing guests to keep their spa time outdoors rather than moving inside for a treatment.
The air-conditioned Technogym fitness centre is open 24 hours a day, while a fitness attendant is available daily from 09:00–18:00. Guests can train independently or join guided sessions covering yoga, meditation, mindful beach walks, sound meditation, HIIT, boot camps and group sports.
The Mora Zanzibar has six swimming pools, giving guests more choice than one central pool area. The collection includes an infinity pool, garden pool, spa pool and shallow water areas suitable for children.
Outliners Club is for children aged 3–12 and combines play with creative, cultural and nature-based activities. The programme includes storytelling, morning meditation, nature exploration, guided stargazing and arts and crafts.
The resort’s Water Sports Center provides access to both relaxed and more active ways to spend time on the Indian Ocean. Kayaking and paddleboarding are available, with equipment provided, while motorised water sports, Jet ski and supervised windsurfing are also offered.
Guided snorkelling trips are adapted around ability, interests and sea conditions. Beginners can stay in calmer areas, while experienced snorkellers can head to more demanding reef locations.
The resort has a Diving Center and offers PADI scuba diving at an additional charge. Mnemba Island is around five minutes away by boat, giving divers access to reef and dive areas close to the resort.
Guests who prefer activities on land can use the resort’s tennis court alongside the wider fitness facilities and outdoor pools. Tennis gives active travellers an alternative to gym sessions and water sports while remaining within the resort.
The resort can arrange visits to some of Zanzibar’s main cultural and natural attractions through its concierge and local operators. Options include Stone Town, working spice farms, Jozani Forest, Prison Island and dolphin excursions at Kizimkazi.
Nature-focused excursions include guided visits to Jozani Chwaka Bay National Park and the Mnarani Marine Turtle Conservation Pond. These trips give guests a chance to learn more about Zanzibar’s environment and conservation work away from the resort.
This hands-on cooking session introduces guests to Swahili food with guidance from the resort’s chefs. Participants learn how to prepare Swahili fish masala before sitting down to eat the finished dish.
The Mora Boutique sells resort wear, artisanal crafts and Mora-branded items. It gives guests an on-site place to pick up clothing, gifts and locally influenced keepsakes during their stay.
Wedding celebrations can take place on secluded parts of the beach, in tropical gardens or on the rooftop terrace. The resort can provide full, partial or on-the-day coordination, personalised décor, professional wedding photographers and videographers, group lunches and beach dinners.
The Mora Zanzibar can host meetings, executive retreats, team-building activities, dinners, cocktail parties and wedding receptions. Two boardrooms accommodate up to 12 delegates each, while beachfront and garden locations can be used for outdoor events.
The Mora Zanzibar is in Muyuni, Matemwe, at the north-east tip of Zanzibar. The official address is Muyuni, Matemwe, Zanzibar, Tanzania 73108. Abeid Amani Karume International Airport is 56 km away, with an approximate 60-minute journey by car.
