You will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Calama. On arrival, you will be met and taken to your hotel in San Pedro de Atacama, a charming settlement on the edge of the Atacama Desert, the driest desert on Earth. Here, you can admire dramatic scenery featuring volcanoes, lagoons, salt flats, geysers, and rugged rock formations. You will also encounter traditional communities that preserve their heritage through local crafts, celebrations, and folklore.

Later, you will visit the remarkable Moon Valley, where salt-covered terrain, towering dunes, and gypsum formations create an otherworldly landscape, beautifully transformed by the changing light of the sun.

Diego De Almagro

Set on the edge of one of the world’s most remarkable desert regions, you will find a welcoming base from which to explore San Pedro de Atacama and its extraordinary surroundings. You will travel south of San Pedro to the impressive Salar de Atacama, an immense salt flat spanning approximately 3,000 square kilometres and framed by magnificent snow-covered volcanoes. Despite its harsh conditions, this unique landscape provides a sanctuary for flamingos, which you may observe feeding in the shallow waters.

Your journey then continues to the nearby village of Toconao, home to around 546 residents. Here, you can visit a charming colonial church dating from the 18th century, notable for its separate bell tower. The village is distinguished by its use of Liparita, a white volcanic stone employed in local buildings and handcrafted ornaments sold in the central square.

Optional: Tatio Geysers and Machuca Village Excursion

Before sunrise, you will travel into the Andean Altiplano, passing through remarkable high-altitude landscapes and wetlands such as Machuca and Putana, known for their rich wildlife. You will visit the small settlement of Machuca before continuing to the spectacular El Tatio Geyser Field. Ranked as the largest geyser field in the Southern Hemisphere, it features around 80 active geysers, with steaming water columns rising dramatically at dawn.

You will be transferred to Calama Airport for your flight to Santiago de Chile. On arrival, you will be taken to your hotel before enjoying a visit to the historic Viña Undurraga winery.

Established in 1885 by Francisco Undurraga, a pioneer of Chilean winemaking, the estate began with vine varieties brought from France and Germany. Guided by French expertise, the vineyards flourished in Chile’s favourable climate, remaining untouched by the phylloxera epidemic that devastated Europe. Today, the winery extends across 2,500 hectares of vineyards. During your visit, you will explore the traditional cellars and elegant manor house, learn about wine production, and conclude with a tasting of selected wines.

You will be transferred to the airport for your onward flight to Puerto Montt. Upon arrival, you will meet your guide and continue to Puerto Varas, located approximately 12 miles away.

Known as the “City of Roses”, Puerto Varas enjoys a picturesque setting on the shores of Lake Llanquihue, where the snow-capped Osorno Volcano is reflected in the water. You will travel along the waterfront promenade and pass the town’s central square, gardens, and the monument dedicated to Vicente Pérez Rosales.

En route, you will explore Puerto Montt, founded by German immigrants in 1852. Highlights include Plaza de Armas, the historic cathedral, panoramic views over Reloncaví Sound, and the bustling Angelmó market, renowned for seafood, local produce, and handicrafts.

During your stay in Chile, a cruise across the spectacular Todos los Santos Lake is an experience not to be missed. Surrounded by lush woodland and renowned for its striking emerald-green waters, the lake offers some of the region’s most impressive scenery.

Your excursion begins with a visit to the famous Petrohué Falls, where powerful cascades flow through dramatic volcanic rock formations. You will then board a boat for a scenic two-hour journey across the lake, enjoying magnificent views of the Osorno, Puntiagudo, and Tronador volcanoes.

On arrival in Peulla, a peaceful ecological settlement of around 120 residents located along the historic Andean Crossing route, you may choose from optional activities including canopy adventures, horse riding, and 4x4 safaris. Afterwards, you will return to your hotel.

You have the day free to spend as you wish. If desired, an optional excursion can be arranged through our local SAT office.

Optional: Full-Day Chiloé Island, Castro and Dalcahue Excursion (shared)

This fascinating journey introduces you to the northern part of the legendary Chiloé Island, known for its colourful stilt houses, traditional markets, and remarkable UNESCO-listed churches. Your day begins with a 30-minute ferry crossing of the Chacao Channel, offering opportunities to observe local birdlife before arriving in Chacao to explore its church and main square.

You will continue to Castro for lunch (not included), followed by visits to Río Gamboa’s palafitos, Nercón Church, and Dalcahue’s waterfront, artisan market, museum, and historic church before returning to your hotel.

Optional: Osorno Volcano Excursion (4 hours, shared)

You may choose to travel from Puerto Varas through the stunning Lake District, following the shores of Lake Llanquihue to the village of Ensenada at the foot of Osorno Volcano. As you ascend, you will enjoy magnificent views of the Petrohué River, surrounding valleys, a vast crater, and the lake. At the ski area, an optional chairlift ride offers even more spectacular panoramas. Please note that the chairlift ticket is not included, and a minimum of two participants is required.

Alternatively, visit Frutillar, renowned for its German heritage, lakeside setting, gardens, museum, and impressive theatre.

You will be transferred from your hotel in Puerto Varas to Puerto Montt Airport for your flight to Punta Arenas.

Located on the shores of the Strait of Magellan, Punta Arenas is often regarded as one of the southernmost cities in the world and serves as an important gateway for travellers visiting Patagonia. Home to approximately 116,000 residents, the city reflects a rich heritage shaped by generations of European immigrants. Around the central square, you can admire elegant mansions once built by wealthy sheep-ranch owners during the region’s prosperous era. The city also offers sweeping views across colourful rooftops towards the Strait of Magellan and the distant landscapes of Tierra del Fuego.

Upon arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel.

This morning, you will discover Punta Arenas on a half-day sightseeing tour. Thanks to its strategic position along historic maritime routes, the city became one of the most significant ports in the Americas at the beginning of the 20th century. Many elegant buildings from this prosperous period remain today.

During your tour, you will travel along Avenida Independencia, lined with notable monuments, before heading to the Cerro La Cruz viewpoint. From here, you can enjoy panoramic views across the city, the Strait of Magellan, and Tierra del Fuego. You will also visit Plaza Muñoz Gamero, home to the monument honouring Hernando de Magallanes.

Later, transfer to the bus station for your journey through Patagonia to Puerto Natales, where you will be taken to your hotel upon arrival.

Following breakfast, you will set out for the spectacular Torres del Paine National Park, located approximately 150 kilometres north-west of Puerto Natales. Widely regarded as one of the world’s most remarkable natural reserves, this extraordinary landscape showcases an impressive variety of scenery at the edge of Patagonia.

As you travel through the park, you will encounter a breathtaking mix of lakes, lagoons, glaciers, waterfalls, rolling hills, and dramatic mountain peaks. The route passes numerous bodies of water whose vivid colours contrast beautifully with the surrounding snow-capped summits and rugged terrain. Throughout the day, there will be opportunities to admire some of the park’s most celebrated attractions, including the fascinating Milodón Cave and the powerful Salto Grande waterfall.

In the late afternoon, you will return to your hotel.

Optional: Balmaceda and Serrano Glaciers Cruise (9 hours, shared)

For a memorable experience, you may join a full-day boat excursion through the Última Esperanza Fjord towards Bernardo O’Higgins National Park, the largest protected natural area in Chile. During the journey, you will be surrounded by dramatic mountain scenery and have the chance to admire the impressive Balmaceda and Serrano glaciers.

At the head of the fjord, you will disembark and follow a short trail through pristine Patagonian woodland. The walk leads to a viewpoint near the Serrano Glacier, where striking blue ice contrasts beautifully with the untouched natural surroundings.

You will be taken to the bus terminal in Puerto Natales by a Spanish-speaking driver. From there, you will board a scheduled public coach service for the journey to Punta Arenas Airport, where you can continue with your onward travel arrangements.
