Take part in the Patan Heritage Tour (carefully crafted by Lalitpur Sub-metropolitan city). You will begin at Naka Bahi which is a nice Buddhist courtyard consisting of rest houses, shrines and a dance platform. From here, visit Nyakha Chuka, a five-house courtyard. Your next stop is Naga Bahal (serpent courtyard) which is an important Buddhist site. At Swatha Square, enjoy plenty of gorgeous shrines and traditional architecture. Next, walk on to Tum Baha, another beautiful Buddhist courtyard that has a temple at its centre, and then head to Kwalkhu, famous for a 16th-century Ganesh temple. Head to Chyasal, which has various artistic rest houses and stone water sprouts. Find an image of Goddess Gajalakshmi dated to the first century AD making it one of the oldest shrines in Nepal.

Reach back to Khapinchhe & its magnificent temple along with its ancient water tanks and from there you have to head for Chapat, where you will find the much revered Ganesh temple. Moving ahead, your stop will be the courtyard of Su Baha which is said to have been built over a cremation ground. Head for Bhinchhe Baha, another Buddhist courtyard known for stone carving along with Duptal, a nice age-old community building. Your final destination is Nugah which is famous for its stone water spouts.

In the morning, visit the beautiful Bhaktapur Durbar Square where you’ll witness a city full of vibrant culture, age-old craftsmanship, celebration of colourful festivals, and overall indigenous lifestyle. Surrounding the stupa are 6 major monasteries as well as various cafes, restaurants, and shops selling Tibetan carpets and Newari silversmiths.

Later, you will visit Pashupatinath, one of the most sacred shrines in Nepal, if not the most sacred. Witness various sadhus (holy men) wandering around the temple; interacting with them can be an insightful experience. Witness priests and devotees performing daily rituals and prayers at the temple during the morning, day and evening hours. Enjoy the bliss of witnessing the evening ‘Aart’ together (which happens around 6 pm) with a band singing hymns in praise of the Lord at the banks of the Bagmati River on the eastern side of the temple.
