Arrive at Kigali International Airport & get welcomed by our representative (outside customs & immigration hall), who will assist with the immigration process. Get transferred to the hotel for check-in. Rooms will be available for early check-in where you can rest and enjoy by the pool. You have the option to visit Kigali Genocide Memorial where you can stop by on your drive from the airport and then head to the hotel. Get an overnight stay in superior rooms at The Retreat; dinner & breakfast included.

Take your packed breakfast and then drive to the airport and check in for your flight departing at 7:45 am to Kamembe in Nyungwe. Your driver guide for the rest of the tour will be waiting for you at the airstrip and will drive you to your accommodation. Spend the day at your leisure at the property and its complimentary activities.

The day begins early and you are driven to the park headquarters at 5:00 am with a packed breakfast. Get an insightful briefing on the chimpanzee trek and then be escorted to the forest by 6:00 am to start your trek.

Once sighted, you can stay in the presence of the chimps for an hour as they engage in acrobatics and feeding in their natural habitat. Besides chimpanzees, you will see a wide variety of bird life. Return to the resort at around 11:00 am when lunch will be served.

In the afternoon, we take you once again to the park headquarters for the canopy walk briefing at 3:00 pm and proceed for the same. Enjoy an early morning breakfast at the resort & check-out to transfer to Volcanoes National Park, famous for the population of mountain gorillas. You’ll stop along the way for lunch on the terrace of the Cormoran Lodge which overlooks Lake Kivu before proceeding to Volcanoes National Park. Visit the Ellen DeGeneres Campus during your trip and then check-in to your accommodation. Overnight stay at One&Only Gorillas Nest. Meal Plan: FB.

Get a morning wake-up call at around 5:30 am to prompt for a meet at the main dining area for breakfast around 6:00 am (have freshly brewed Rwandan coffee) and proceed with your onward journey. At 6:45 am depart for the Trekking Headquarters of Volcanoes National Park (20-minute drive).

On arrival, enjoy your coffee first while your guide secures your spots with specific gorilla families. Then, gather in a group with the Volcanoes National Park Guide to get a detailed briefing.

At 8:00 am, vehicles depart for various trailheads taking around a 15-minute to one-hour drive depending upon the gorilla family a group has been allocated. At the start, a porter will be assigned to assist you with carrying bags and any challenges with navigating challenging terrain (recommended; cash is required to pay porters with a minimum denomination of US Dollar 10). Following that, it may take anywhere around 30 minutes to 3-4 hours to reach gorilla families where treks can go as high as 2,500 - 4,000 m.

Enjoy a sumptuous breakfast before heading for Golden Monkey trekking. You have to do the hike here as well but it is not as strenuous as other hikes in the park. Enjoy watching these playful and inquisitive chimps leaping from bamboo branches or frolicking on the forest floor.

Return to the accommodation where you will freshen up. Check-out, have lunch and depart to Kigali for your flight back home.

During your stay at The Retreat Kigali, enjoy your time at the poolside bar and the fine-dining restaurant offering international cuisines, Fusion Restaurant. Also, you can indulge in aromatherapy, body scrub and sports massage at the on-site spa.

Enjoy a thrilling canopy walk at the Nyungwe National Park. The canopy walkway consists of three bridges & three towers (total length of 200m). An accompanying expert park guide will reveal the forest canopy and explain its importance to the tropical rainforest ecosystem.

Enjoy thrilling gorilla trekking, the highlight of the trip. The terrain is composed of farmlands to thick bushes, ensuring a lot of adventure. Also, sometimes you may be assigned a gorilla family who is on the move, in that case, the adventure will increase further!

Spend a fun-filled time tracking the golden monkeys which are very playful and inquisitive jumping from bamboo branches or playing on the forest grounds.
