FCDO Lifts ‘Essential Travel Only’ Advice for UAE, Qatar and Bahrain

British travellers planning holidays to the Gulf have received a boost after the UK government removed its advice against all but essential travel to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Qatar and Bahrain.

According to the latest FCDO travel advice, the change came into effect on 18 June following an easing of tensions in the region. The previous warning had been introduced amid concerns over regional security and disruption to air travel across parts of the Gulf.

For travellers, the update removes one of the key factors that can influence holiday planning, as travel insurance policies and booking decisions are often affected by official government advice. While the warning has been lifted, the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office has stated that the situation remains under review and travellers should continue to stay informed before departure.

The UAE, Qatar and Bahrain remain among the most popular destinations in the region for UK holidaymakers, attracting visitors with year-round sunshine, luxury resorts and world-class hospitality.

The latest development is expected to help restore traveller confidence. Reuters reported that travel companies are anticipating renewed demand for Gulf holidays following the advisory change, particularly as airlines continue restoring services across the region.

Meanwhile, Emirates has confirmed that operations continue across its network, providing travellers with updated flight information as schedules return to normal following earlier disruption.

Travellers planning a trip to the Gulf are advised to check the latest government guidance and airline updates before travelling, as travel advice can change if regional circumstances evolve.
