The Mercure Beijing Downtown is a stylish four-star hotel offering modern comfort in a convenient location. You can enjoy spacious rooms, a well-equipped fitness centre, and an indoor pool. With quality dining options and easy access to key attractions and transport links, it provides a comfortable and practical base for exploring Beijing.

Begin your day with an early start, travelling for approximately two hours northwest of the city to reach Juyongguan Pass. At this impressive location, you will have the opportunity to walk along the iconic Great Wall of China, taking in both its remarkable construction and the surrounding scenic landscapes. After a short walk from the coach to the entrance, your Luxtripper guide will provide an engaging overview of the Wall’s fascinating past, along with guidance on the various walking routes suited to differing fitness levels. You will then enjoy around two and a half hours of free time to explore independently. Please be aware that the Wall includes numerous steps, with some areas considerably steeper than others. Later in the day, visit a traditional jade workshop before enjoying a leisurely wander through the beautiful Summer Palace grounds.

This morning, you will be transferred to the railway station to board a high-speed train bound for Xian, with a journey lasting approximately five hours. On arrival, take time to explore the lively Muslim Quarter, known for its bustling atmosphere and local delicacies. In the evening, enjoy a flavourful dinner featuring traditional Shui Jiao dumplings. Your day concludes with an elegant cultural experience, as you watch a captivating performance showcasing the graceful music and dance of the Tang Dynasty, arranged as part of your Luxtripper itinerary.

Accommodation

Dajing Castle Hotel

Dajing Castle Hotel offers a distinctive stay, combining classic Chinese design with contemporary amenities. This property is set close to key historical landmarks. The hotel features well-appointed rooms, tranquil surroundings, and a welcoming atmosphere. Its convenient location and thoughtful facilities make it a comfortable choice for those looking to explore the area’s rich cultural heritage.

Set out today to explore one of China’s most fascinating archaeological treasures, the extraordinary Terracotta Warriors, a vast assembly of life-sized figures. Located around an hour’s drive from Xian, the museum requires a walk of approximately 15 minutes from the coach park to the entrance, though optional electric carts operated by independent vendors can be arranged at your own expense for the outward journey.

Within the expansive site, the warriors are displayed across three separate excavation pits, each still an active dig, and you will have around two and a half hours to take it all in. Afterwards, visit the Xian Art Ceramics and Lacquer Exhibition Workshop to see artisans creating detailed miniature replicas. Later, enjoy time on the beautifully preserved 14th-century city walls surrounding the old town, followed by a refreshing brewery visit for a tasting experience.

Travel by air to the south, arriving in the spectacular region of Zhangjiajie, renowned for its dramatic scenery. Here, towering sandstone formations rise above verdant woodland, creating an unforgettable natural setting. Your journey with Luxtripper continues amidst these striking landscapes, offering a truly memorable introduction to this remarkable destination.

Accommodation

Expert Village Courtyard Hotel

Expert Village Courtyard Hotel is an amazing 4-star property that has a traditional courtyard design, offering an authentic and tranquil Beijing experience. Blending heritage architecture with modern comforts, it provides an intimate, boutique atmosphere. Its peaceful setting, personalised service, and cultural charm create a unique alternative to larger hotels, ideal for travellers seeking character and a sense of place.

Spend an immersive day discovering the dramatic landscapes of Zhangjiajie National Park. Start in the Yuanjiajie Scenic Area, where you will ascend via the extraordinary Bailong glass lift, famed as the world’s tallest and fastest outdoor lift. Built into the cliff, it rises approximately 326 metres in just a couple of minutes, delivering you to the Mihun stage. From here, take in sweeping vistas across the iconic quartzite pillars, including the renowned First Bridge under Heaven and the cinematic Hallelujah Mountain.

Continue onwards to Emperor Mountain, pausing at Helong Park for further panoramas, before descending by cable car. Conclude your journey beside the tranquil Jinbian Stream, where forested scenery surrounds you. Today’s exploration with Luxtripper involves roughly three to four hours of gentle walking, allowing ample time to appreciate the park’s natural beauty and unique geological formations, while enjoying fresh mountain air and memorable viewpoints throughout the day for a truly unforgettable experience in this remarkable UNESCO World Heritage site.

Ascend the breathtaking heights of Tianmen Mountain aboard the world’s longest cable car, stretching roughly seven kilometres and taking around forty minutes to reach the summit. Once at the top, admire the remarkable Tianmen Cave, often referred to as ‘Heaven’s Door’, dramatically positioned above a challenging flight of 999 steps.

Continue your adventure with a walk along the exhilarating glass skywalk, known as the ‘Walk of Faith’, where it feels as though you are suspended in mid-air. If time allows, you may also explore the Cliff-Hanging Walkway or the winding Coiled Dragon Cliff path for further spectacular views.

Today’s touring with Luxtripper includes approximately three to four hours of walking, with a mix of wooden paths and stone stairways. The ascent of the 999 steps and the glass skywalk are entirely optional, with the climb typically taking 40 to 60 minutes. Alternatively, an escalator provides easier access, and a viewing platform at the base offers a relaxing spot to enjoy the scenery. In the evening, you may choose to attend the open-air Fairy Fox music and dance performance (subject to weather, payable locally).

Travel by road for around four hours to reach Maoping docks, where your Luxtripper experience continues as you board a comfortable river cruise vessel. Settle into your cabin and prepare for an unforgettable voyage along the iconic Yangtze River, one of China’s most celebrated waterways. Over the next four nights, you will glide past dramatic scenery, historic sites, and picturesque landscapes, enjoying a relaxing pace of travel combined with immersive sightseeing opportunities, all while experiencing the charm and tranquillity of life on board throughout this memorable journey with Luxtripper.

Accommodation

Victoria Yangtze River Cruise

Victoria Yangtze River Cruise offers a comfortable four-star sailing experience along China’s most iconic waterway. Guests can enjoy well-appointed cabins, panoramic viewing decks, and a range of onboard dining options. With guided excursions, cultural activities, and attentive service, it provides a relaxing and immersive way to experience the dramatic scenery of the Yangtze River.

Experience a visit to the Three Gorges Dam, recognised as the largest hydroelectric project on Earth, and take in the sheer ingenuity behind this vast structure. Leave your vessel and enjoy a picturesque drive of around 45 minutes; please be aware that the coach cannot pause for photographs en route. Upon arrival, head to an elevated viewing platform overlooking the ship locks, offering an impressive perspective of the dam’s enormous scale.

Spend time discovering a compact museum and a scenic lookout, providing a deeper understanding of how the dam was built and how it has shaped the surrounding area. This excursion involves roughly an hour of walking at a relaxed pace. Afterwards, return to your cruise ship and continue sailing through Xiling Gorge, the longest and most dramatic of the Three Gorges.

Optional excursions may include experiencing the Three Gorges Dam lift, visiting the Tribe of the Three Gorges, or exploring the hometown of Qu Yuan, all arranged by Luxtripper. Guides provide commentary throughout, ensuring you gain meaningful insight into the region’s history, culture, and engineering achievements.

Board smaller boats for a calmer and unhurried 90-minute journey along the striking Shennong Stream gorges. Although more compact than the famous Three Gorges, these waterways are no less spectacular, with cliffs and unspoilt natural beauty surrounding you throughout. This excursion does not include any walking, though you should be comfortable stepping on and off the boat independently.

Later, rejoin your cruise ship and continue sailing upstream, where unforgettable scenery unfolds as you pass through Wu and Qutang gorges. Wu Gorge enchants with its serene atmosphere, lush hillsides, and misty peaks, while Qutang Gorge, the briefest and most confined, impresses with its towering rock formations and dramatic setting. Subject to river conditions on the day, the route may instead follow the equally scenic Goddess Stream, all seamlessly arranged by Luxtripper.

Sail further along the majestic Yangtze River, enjoying time at leisure onboard or choosing to step ashore for a cultural visit to Xiaoguanshan Folk Culture Park. This thoughtfully recreated site brings together historic treasures relocated from areas flooded by the construction of the Three Gorges Dam. Wander through preserved ancestral residences, admire the centuries-old Tianfo Temple, and pass through the notable Huichuan Gate, each offering a glimpse into the region’s heritage.

The visit is conducted entirely on foot at a relaxed and manageable pace, allowing ample opportunity to take in the surroundings. Expect to spend around one to two hours exploring before returning to your vessel, with all arrangements smoothly handled by Luxtripper for a seamless and enriching experience.

Disembark your cruise in Chongqing and begin the day with a visit to the Panda House at Chongqing Zoo, where you can observe China’s iconic giant pandas alongside other native wildlife. Later, unwind with a relaxing afternoon at a nearby hot spring retreat, featuring 53 pools at varying temperatures, some enhanced with traditional Chinese teas and aromatic oils.

Facilities include lockers with electronic wristbands, showers, towels, hairdryers, cover-ups, and waterproof bags, while drinking water and speciality teas are available throughout. Swimwear hire and spa treatments are offered at an additional cost. Alternatively, explore the vibrant Jiefangbei Pedestrian Street with a guide, then enjoy free time to browse shops, cafés, and street food, all arranged by Luxtripper.
