Day 3
Andean Lagoons

Enjoy a full-day excursion through the southwestern region of San Pedro to discover some of the Andes' most spellbinding scenery. The tour starts at the remote Miscanti and Miñiques lagoons, which sit at an altitude of more than 4,000m. With the desert as a backdrop, you can observe the startling colours of these salt lakes, with the crystal-clear water the result of ancient glacial ice thaws. The region is also a showpiece for some of the area's unique flora and fauna that have adapted to the brutal conditions of high-altitude living, such as the pink flamingos of the Atacama Desert and the vicuñas that visit the lakes' shores.

Afterwards, you'll visit the town of Socaire and its two lookouts that peer over the Salar de Talar. From here, you can see the area of Piedras Rojas with its magnificent geological formations. Socaire is also known for its traditional church and historical terraced plantations of quinoa and purple Andean potatoes.

Day 4
Valle de la Luna & Stargazing

You'll visit the Atacama Desert's Valle de la Luna, named as such for its striking resemblance to the surface of the moon. The valley's jagged appearance is the result of thousands of years of wind and salt erosion that have carved and scarred the landscape into its modern-day form.

The Atacama Desert is known to be one of the best places on Earth for stargazing; and whilst staying at Tierra Atacama, you'll enjoy a fascinating evening of astronomy with the hotel's expert guides. Depending on the time of your visit, you may be able to glimpse Saturn's rings, craters on the moon, cloudy nebulas, and even supernovas, whilst learning about the ways in which the traditional Andean communities interpret the cosmos.

Day 5
Fly from Calama to Santiago

After breakfast, you will enjoy a road transfer back to Calama's airport for your scheduled flight to Santiago, the capital city of Chile. Upon arrival, you'll be transferred by private driver to your next accommodation.

Whilst here, you can choose to explore the top attractions of city, including the Plaza de Armas, the epicentre of the city's colonial core, featuring grand palaces and a neoclassical cathedral, while the Neptune's Terrace fountain is a fine example of Spanish-colonial design and architecture. Along with its rich heritage, Santiago also boasts countless chic and trendy restaurants and bars, as well as multiple museums that trace Chile's fascinating history.

On your final full day, embark on an authentic horse riding adventure across the Patagonian steppe and vast plains of the "pampas". A particular highlight is the ride across vast wetlands to the Donosito Lookout, where you can marvel at incredible views across the Serrano River, Grey River, the sprawling plain, and the snowy peaks of the Paine Massif in the distance. You can then ascend a narrow, pronounced path, crossing beech forests until you reach the peaceful Los Choros Lagoon.
