Day 1-2
1 night at Pike's Waterfront Lodge

A cosy lodge set on the banks of the Chena River, Pike's Waterfront Lodge features a selection of old-style rooms and rustic log cabins, and offers a comfortable stay whilst in Fairbanks. Guests can dine at the lodge's restaurant overlooking the river, spend an evening relaxing around a crackling firepit on the lodge's Aurora Riverfront Deck, or wander through the manicured gardens.

Day 2
Denali National Park

Enjoy an early breakfast before departing for a two-hour drive towards Denali National Park. On arrival, you will meet an expert naturalist driver-guide who will escort you on an incredible tour through Denali's pristine wilderness. The greater Denali wilderness is a truly untamed landscape that spans a sprawling 6 million acres, and is home to Alaska's "Big Five": moose, caribou, Dall sheep, wolves, and grizzly bears.

The tour will allow you to spend the day scanning the vast landscape for sightings of the incredible wildlife that live here whilst gaining a better understanding Alaska's sub-arctic ecosystem. You'll also enjoy a fresh, scenic picnic lunch prepared by a local café while your informative guide will reveal fascinating stories about the area.

Day 2
Road transfer from Denali National Park to Denali Bluffs Hotel

After your private tour of Denali National Park, return to your vehicle and drive the short distance to Denali Bluffs Hotel, where you will spend the next two nights.

Day 2-4
2 nights at Denali Bluffs Hotel

Set on a hillside overlooking the snow-capped peaks of Denali, Denali Bluffs Hotel is a modern and comfortable lodge located just ten minutes away from the Denali National Park visitor centre. The hotel features rooms overlooking the breathtaking scenery, a cosy sitting area, and a restaurant.

Day 3
Coach Ride and Tour of Denali National Park

Embark on a mesmerising coach ride through the expansive, mountainous interior of Denali National Park. Your journey will be led by a knowledgable driver-guide, who will provide fascinating insights into the areas of the park as you pass through them.

Concluding at the historic gold mining area of Kantishna, the tour will wind across 92 miles of remote roads that wind through pristine valleys and forest-fringed mountainsides, providing spectacular vistas of the majestic Alaska mountain range. You'll stop at multiple spots along the way to capture photographs and observe the wildlife that roam throughout this untouched wilderness.

One of the highlights of the tour is Wonder Lake; on a clear day, the reflection of the towering, snow-capped peak of Mt. Denali is visible in the lake's crystal-clear waters. End the tour with an exploration into the impact that mining had on the area and how it led to the development of the Alaskan interior. Hear stories about the lifestyles and characteristic required by early settlers to withstand the harsh conditions of the frontier, and try panning for gold yourself.

Day 4
Road transfer from Denali Bluffs Hotel to Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge

After breakfast, continue your journey southward to the town of Talkeetna and your next accommodation, Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge. The two-and-a-half-hour drive to Talkeetna meanders through lush forest before winding alongside the Susitna River. Visit a local brewery along the way for a tasting session or even a tour, or stroll through town to explore the historic district which features buildings that were constructed in the early 1900s.

Day 4-5
1 night at Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge

With views of the towering Mount Denali, Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge is a rustic property in the town of Talkeetna, featuring three dining venues, a fitness centre, and a cosy lobby with a fireplace at its centre.

Day 5
Road transfer from Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge to The Hotel Captain Cook

Depart Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge after a restorative breakfast and enjoy the scenic two-hour drive over to Anchorage. Alaska's largest city, Anchorage boasts rich opportunities for adventures through the surrounding nature, as well as intriguing cultural sites such as the Alaska Native Heritage Centre, which showcases the histories and cultures of Alaska's indigenous communities. Upon arrival, enjoy lunch and park your vehicle at your next hotel, the elegant Hotel Captain Cook, before taking a short stroll to meet your local guide for an afternoon bike ride along the Tony Knowles Coastal Trail.

Day 5
Tony Knowles Coastal Trail

One of the most beautiful coastal trails in North America, the Tony Knowles Coastal Trail is an 11-mile-long paved trail that winds along the coast from downtown Anchorage to Kincaid Park, connecting with the Chester Creek Trail, and is strictly for non-motorised use only, making it an idyllic place to walk or cycle.

Leave the hustle and bustle of the city behind you and enter the lush forests that surround the trail. Ride along the fault line of the 9.2 magnitude Great Alaskan Earthquake in 1964 that devastated much of south-central Alaska and roll through scented forests, where you can spot towering moose lumber through the trees. You'll also be able to take in sweeping vistas along the way, allowing you to spot beluga whales frolicking in the bays and the snowy summit of America's highest peak, Denali.

Day 5-6
1 night at The Hotel Captain Cook

Located in downtown Anchorage, The Hotel Captain Cook is a luxury hotel with a selection of spacious rooms. Spend your time at the hotel dining at one of restaurants, unwinding with a rejuvenating massage, or relaxing in the sauna.

Day 6
Matanuska Glacier

Enjoy a full-day hiking adventure on the glistening Matanuska Glacier. At a length of 27 miles and with a width of 4 miles, Matanuska is the largest glacier accessible by road vehicle in the United States. You'll be collected by your driver-guide for a small group tour that will enable you to learn about the area and stop along the way during the 90-minute drive to the glacier to take pictures of the breathtaking Alaskan landscapes.

At the glacier, you'll gear up and hit the ice, your guide leading the way. Marvel at the ice that formed thousands of years ago high in the Chugach Mountains as you trek carefully over crevasses and peer down into sparkling ice caves, and discover the fascinating behaviours of this icy behemoth, such as how it flows about one foot per day.

Day 6
Road transfer from The Hotel Captain Cook to The Hotel Alyeska

Depart Anchorage and set out on a 60-minute drive to Girdwood on the most incredible stretch of Seward Highway along Turnagain Arm, a waterway into the northwestern part of the Gulf of Alaska.

On your way to Girdwood, there will be multiple opportunities to stop and absorb spellbinding vistas of the pristine Alaskan wilderness; Beluga Point, Windy Corner, and Bird Point are idyllic spots to view the Kenai and Chugach mountains and spot beluga whales splash around in the water and Dall sheep traverse the surrounding hillsides.

Day 6-8
2 nights at The Hotel Alyeska

Surrounded by vast swathes of forest, The Hotel Alyeska is a chateau-style resort located in the Girwood area of Alaska near the Chugach Mountains. Whilst its known for its skiing, the resort also boasts 76 named trails in the surrounding area, as well as a 50,000 sq ft Nordic Spa, the first of its kind in Alaska.

Day 7
Glacier Rafting or Kayaking

Make your way to the Girdwood train stop for a departure aboard the iconic Alaska Railroad's Coastal Classic. Your guide will be waiting for you at the station and will accompany you on a full-day rafting or kayaking adventure at the immense Spencer Glacier. During the train ride to the Spencer Whistle Stop, you'll be able to glimpse some truly mesmerising scenery through the train's windows as you pass through valley after valley and beneath the domineering mountains.

Once you arrive, you'll don a pair of rubber boots and a flotation device and join a small group to board a shared raft. Your guide will row the oars and navigate around Spencer Glacier's magnificent icebergs. Relax and enjoy expansive vistas of the encircling mountains and glacial landscapes during a scenic seven-mile river float down the pristine Placer River, one of the most picturesque glacier river trips found throughout Alaska. If you're feeling particularly adventurous, you can opt in advance to join a small kayaking group and paddle around the icebergs to get a closer look while maintaining a safe distance from the imposing glacier and the massive segments of ice that often fall from its edge into the water below.

After your exploration of Spencer Glacier, you will take a sightseeing train through the most scenic section of the route before making your way back to Girdwood and your hotel.

Day 8
Road transfer from Girdwood to Seward

After breakfast, make your way to the town of Seward to take a boat tour through Kenai Fjords National Park that ends at Kenai Wilderness Lodge, your next accommodation, nestled on the pebbly shores of Fox Island in Resurrection Bay. Located two hours from Girdwood, the town of Seward is ideally located in the mountainous folds of famed Resurrection Bay and serves as a departure point to reach Fox Island.

Day 8
Boat Tour Through Kenai Fjords National Park

Enjoy a spectacular boat cruise through the Kenai Fjords National Park to glimpse its awe-inspiring landscapes and marine life. Covering an area of approximately 700,000 acres on south-central Alaska's Kenai Peninsula, the national park maintains the Harding Icefield and its outflowing glaciers, coastal fjords, and islands.

A land where glimpses of the ice age still linger, nearly 40 glaciers flow from the Harding Icefield. The icy waters and lush forests that fringe this vast expanse of ice sees thriving wildlife, including black and brown bears, beaver, river otter, moose, Dall's porpoise, Stellar sea lion, orca, and humpback whale.

Day 8-11
3 nights at Kenai Fjords Wilderness Lodge

Situated on the remote Fox Island in Resurrection Bay, Kenai Fjords Wilderness Lodge is an exclusive retreat comprised of just eight waterfront cabins. The lodge features a fine dining restaurant, a cosy lounge area, and excursions into the surrounding wilderness.

Day 9-10
Fox Island

During your stay on Fox Island, embark on a guided kayaking adventure in Resurrection Bay, keeping a watchful eye out for the wildlife that inhabits the area, including humpback whales, seals, and a myriad of sea birds.

The next day, you'll go on a guided beach walk where you'll learn about the fascinating history and ecology of the island, before heading inland and exploring some of the hiking trails that weave through the temperate rainforest.

Day 11
Boat from Fox Island to Seward

Depart the island after a delicious lunch and enjoy a narrated cruise deep into the fjord where you will have the chance to glimpse more wildlife, including humpback whales, orca, sea lions, puffins, and more.  Once the tour concludes, you will disembark back in Seward and collect your car for the three-hour drive to Anchorage, where you will spend another night at The Hotel Captain Cook.

Day 12
Fly from Anchorage to UK

Enjoy breakfast in the morning and drive to Anchorage International Airport where you will return your rental car and begin the journey home.
