Just a short drive up Phuket's lush hillsides will take you to one of the biggest Buddha statues in Thailand. This stunning white marble statue stands at 45 metres tall and was constructed in 2004, but is still worked on and improved upon to this day. Around the statue you'll also find other statues of Buddha, golden prayer tablets left on trees and you'll be able to see almost all of Phuket from the top; the views are absolutely incredible.

Phuket Town's landscape of pastel buildings and colonial houses showcases the island's history of Portuguese influence, providing a stark contrast from what you will have seen of Thailand's landscape so far. After dark these famous streets are lined with colourful market stalls selling everything from unique handicrafts, classic Thai souvenirs and most notably, delicious street food.
