Lake Victoria

Bordering three countries, Lake Victoria is the second-largest freshwater lake in the world. Spanning a total area of 26,828mi², this expansive lake offers a host of activities for travellers to enjoy. Discover beautiful beaches found alongside the idyllic town of Entebbe, travel via speedboat to Ngama Island, a dedicated chimpanzee sanctuary, or simply enjoy a relaxing boat ride on the lake. 

Mabira Central Forest

One of Uganda's prime eco-tourism locations, Mabira Central Forest is one of the country's largest surviving natural rainforests. Renowned for its biodiversity, the forest is home to 312 tree species, 219 butterfly species, and approximately 30% of Uganda's bird species. Best explored on immersive nature walks and exciting canopy tours, this phenomenal destination is a must-see for nature lovers. 

Nyero Rock Paintings

Found in the village of Nyero, the Nyero Rock Site is among the most significant found across the continent. Containing six different shelters depicting geometric shapes on granite rocks, the site offers a rare glimpse into Uganda's ancient past, with the paintings believed to be up to 12,000 years old. 

Rwenzori Mountains National Park

Characterised by a diverse terrain comprised of waterfalls, lakes, snow-capped peaks, glaciers, luscious forestry, hot springs and bog-filled valleys, the captivating beauty of the Rwenzori Mountains National Park is undeniable. A UNESCO-labeled Key Birding area, the park offers incredible birdwatching opportunities, in addition to a variety of other explorative activities, such as hiking nature trails, mountain climbing and cultural encounters with local tribes people. 

Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary

Located in the Nakasongola district, the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary is the only location in Uganda where southern white rhinos can be observed in their natural habitat, with approximately 22 calling the sanctuary home. Visitors to the park can enjoy the once-in-a-lifetime experience of tracking down these majestic creatures on dedicated game drives and bush treks. Other unmissable wildlife at the sanctuary includes the highly sought after shoebill stork, the Uganda kob, bushbucks and oribis.

Famed for its diverse variety of wildlife, Queen Elizabeth National Park is Uganda's premier safari destination. Begin your exploration of the park with a trek through the Kyambura Game Reserve and encounter chimpanzees, red-tailed monkeys and baboons. Next, travel west to the Mweya Peninsula and embark on a game drive and spot elephants, buffaloes, zebras and hippos. Head down south to the Ishasha sector and witness rare tree-climbing lions lounging on fig and acacia trees.
